Born in Istanbul into tailor family in 1948. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a degree in MSc Metallurgical Engineering in 1971.

Between 1972-1977, he worked at Mannesmann – Sümerbank Pipe Co. as Chief of Quality Control and Product Manager.

He was appointed as Production Manager at Beldesan A.Ş.(Bicycle) in 1977. The following year, 1978, he started up Kalibre Boru A.Ş (High Precision Tube) as founding member.

In 1989, he founded Erciyas Industry (which is mother of all other Erciyas Holding companies), following year founded Erciyas Steel Pipe & Erciyas Pipe Foreign Trade. He is still the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Erciyas Holding.
He serves as the member of ÇEBİD (Turkish Steel Pipe Manufacturers’ Association) and the Karaköy Rotary Club. İMMİB (General Secretariat of Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters’ Association), TİM (Turkish Exporters Assembly), TÜSİAD (Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s association), ÇİB (Turkish Steel Exporters Association), Istanbul Sailing Club and TMMOB (Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects) are just some of the associations which he is member of. Also he is one of the founder member of AGÜ (Abdullah Gül University, Kayseri)

Ahmet Kamil Erciyas is married and has two children.
